Zip Wire

At the nearby former Tower Colliery a zip line takes you down Rhigos mountain, across the Llyn Fawr reservoir, offering stunning views of the Cynon Valley and enjoying the very fastest speeds, racing in to the landing point as you fly above the trees. The second line returns you back to Tower Colliery and the Zip World site, spanning over 1.5 kilometres in total.

Penderyn Distillery

Penderyn produce award-winning single malt whiskies and spirits at their distillery on the foothills of the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) National Park, Wales, UK. They opened two other distilleries in Llandudno (2021) and Swansea (2023).

The village of Penderyn was chosen because of the site’s own supply of fresh natural spring water.

Wings Of Wales

Wings Of Wales was established in 2015 by conservation photographer and bird of prey handler Lewis Phillips. He has been working in conservation, educating the public and flying birds for over ten years. Lewis has worked alongside many different conservation trusts in Britain and other countries around the world. They aspire to teach people about real issues that affect birds of prey in the wild.  Join them for an unforgettable Falconry experience in Wales.

Brecon Mountain Railway

Brecon Mountain Railway was built on part of the abandoned Brecon & Merthyr Railway which was originally built in 1859. Travel behind a vintage Steam Locomotive in our all-weather observation coaches and admire the spectacular views on your 10 mile round journey. The railway climbs to Torpantau, high in the Brecon Beacons before returning Pontsticill Station. Visit our Steam Museum, Children’s Play area and Lakeside Café. At Pant Station we have Tearooms, Gift Shop and a Workshop. Facilities for disabled passengers including ramps, toilets and an adapted carriage to accommodate wheelchairs.

A Welsh Coal Mining Experience

Book your Black Gold Underground Experience and join an award-winning tour.
Your guide, a former miner who worked in the coal mines of the Rhondda Valleys, will take you underground and back in time. Ride the simulated DRAM.
 
Free digital and interactive displays bring history to life. Learn how our miners, colliery owners and communities lived while Rhondda coal powered the world. Sit in the parlour of a rich coal mine owner or visit a traditional shop.
 
Explore the courtyard and original mining artefacts – drams of coal, the Anderson bomb shelter and the Old Forge where the blacksmith worked on the colliery horses.
 
With on-site Caffe Bracchi, Craft of Hearts craft shop and workshops and the Chocolate House workshops and sweet treats, it’s a great experience for everyone.
